In a garden, anguished, troubled,
On his knees a Man in prayer.
With a heart so full of sorrow,
His face reflecting pain and fear.
It is Jesus Christ our Savior
Whos to save the world from sin.
Turning to His heavenly Father,
In His hour of suffering.
In a corner His disciples,
Fast asleep and unaware.
Of their Masters grief and misery,
So, alone He shed His tears.
Then He cried: Oh God! My Father!
Please, keep this bitter cup from me!
Alas. No answer. Only silence,
In the town Gethsemane.
Jesus knew, and it was written,
That he has to take that cup.
Over His face the sweat is streaming,
Sweat now changing into blood.
The human race God loved so dearly,
That he gave his only Son.
Trusting in His heavenly Father,
Jesus said: Thy will be done!
Later, down the street He stumbled,
On His back a wooden cross.
The crown of thorns He wore so bravely.
Punished, ridiculed for us.
From the wounds upon His back,
Over His face, now wrenched in pain,
Flowed streams of warm, red, crimson blood,
And on His clothes it left a stain.
Innocently led to slaughter,
The gentle Man. The Lamb of God.
On His way to Calvary,
Our Saviour, Jesus Christ the Lord.
The guilty shouted: Crucify Him!
His mother broke down, and she cried.
See her Son being flogged and slaughtered,
Watching Him being crucified.
Mighty God, please, show Him mercy!
Hes not guilty, save my child!
I know it is in Your power!
Her pleas in vain. The crowd goes wild.
Mocking, shouting: You, Great Teacher,
King of Jews, where is Your Lord!
Save Yourself from death and show us,
That You are the Son of God!
On the bloodstained cross they nailed Him,
He gave His life, for you and me.
Into His loving fathers hands,
Surrendered His soul unselfishly.
Gods unconditional, perfect love,
For each sinner, for mankind,
Forced Him to give His only Son,
For us to live, He had to die.
Three days after Jesus died,
He rose again. A miracle!
Reigning at His Fathers side,
Looks down on us, their task fulfilled.
Watching, see the world in turmoil,
Did Jesus pay the price in vain?
Cause of our sins, He is still hurting.
Our transgressions, causing pain.
Yet, God is merciful and gracious.
He will forgive, If we confess.
Our trespasses Hell wash away,
Just put the Father to the test.
The human race God loved so dearly,
That he gave his only Son.
Obedient, trusting God, His Father,
Jesus said: Thy will be done.
Butterfly.
